How to Don a Woman's Girdle

Donning a Woman's Girdle

Donning a girdle is not a difficult task, but it should be done with care and caution. It is quite easy to tear the fabric if proper care is not taken while pulling the girdle up to its desired location. I have experienced this problem myself and had to employ my sewing machine to mend the damage. By donning your girdle properly, you will avoid damaging it, and you will lengthen its lifespan considerably.

Notice the damage in the photo; it looks similar to marks on a pregnant woman's belly. This is a typical stretch mark caused by pulling on the girdle. To repair this damage, I will have to install a patch, because a simple zigzag stitch over the damage does not work.

How to don a pull-on girdle

In this procedure, I will don a HWLLPG with a 2" waistband, and I will wear it in the upper position. The numbered steps match the numbered photos.

  1. Hold the girdle about knee high and then step into it.
  2. Roll the elastic waistband outward one roll, i.e. inside out.
  3. Grab the doubled-over waistband with two hands and lift the girdle up several inches on one side, and then the other side, and then in front, and then in back, etc.
  4. Continue lifting the girdle in rotation until it is at your natural waist line, then
  5. flip the elastic band up into its normal position. With this girdle, the bottom of the waistband should sit exactly on the natural waistline.
  6. Finally, lift the top edges of the girdle up and over the skin that may be bulging over the top along the sides, back and front.

How to don a zippered girdle

In the following procedure, I will don a high waist zippered girdle, and I will wear it in the upper position. Again, the numbered steps match the numbered photos. Ignore the white edge at the top of the girdle in photos 8 and 9; I was wearing very stretchy panties that came over the top of the girdle.

  1. Hold the girdle about knee high and then step into it.
  2. Pull it up until until you feel resistance.
  3. On the zippered side, grab as much material as you can with two hands.
  4. Pull that side up about 6 inches.
  5. Pull the other side up about 6 inches. Continue lifting the girdle in rotation until it is in place.
  6. Attach the hooks to the eyes under the zipper.
  7. Straighten the zipper with one hand and zip it up with the other.
  8. Pull the girdle up as high as it will go, especially in the back.
  9. Done.
